Re: UROGYNECOLOGY: kidney stonesFrom: April (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 3 Jul 2007 20:07:09 -0500 (CDT)
Sheri, I do not know if you are still looking for help or not, but I had a kidney stone removed from my right ureter (it was stuck there for 18 months) so to answer your question-It can take forever if it is stuck. If you know it has been there for a while (I heard the average is a month or two in the tube) and it has not passed-see your urologist. Mine was found during a CT Scan, and a week later I had a ureteroscopy to have it removed. I still have one in my kidney-it is small and in a position where it probably won't get into the tube. The urologist said we would check on it every 6 months via x-ray-if it gets to big-we will do something about it right away. The urologist said that your urine gets concentrated when you are dehydrated. Your urine should be clear or pale yellow. If it is yellow-dk yellow you need to drink more water. Lemonade also helps to prevent kidney stones. Once you had them though-you can't disolve them yourself. If you haven't already spoken to your urologist-please do-you do not want your urine blocked from comming out. Good Luck.
