CHRONICPAIN: Ovarian Pain and Spasm

I have had this zapping, spasm-like pain in the lower left pelvis all day long. About every 17 seconds (yes, I actually timed it), I get this sharp pain in the lower left pelvis like a stabbing or zapping pain that lasts about 3-5 seconds then stops.

I had an ovarian cystectomy on that side exactly 8 weeks ago, and I am wondering if the cyst has come back. This week would normally be around the time I would have a period; however, I also had an endometrial ablation at the same time and have not had a period since the procedure, so there is absolutely no bleeding just the pain. I have had constant pain in the left ovary since the cystectomy 8 weeks ago, but I did notice it got slightly worse around the time of ovulation (days 14-15) and now it is really bad at about the time I would be having a period. It is so bad, I am actually contemplating taking one of the pain meds I got after surgery because the Motrin just isn't even taking the edge off.

What could be causing this pain and why would it worsen during certain times in the cycle? I'm getting a little worried because it is the worst it has been since surgery. Thanks.
