Don't panic. The string might be up inside the uterus. In my experience usually the perforation happens at the time of insertion, not after that. The IUD can't migrate into the uterine wall, or at least logically it shouldn't. It also can be expelled, for example with a heavy period. So, hang on. Without pain and other discomfort, the next step is confirming if its there or not.
