CONTRACEPTION: Missing IUSFrom: Lauren (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 28 Jun 2007 19:09:07 -0500 (CDT)
I went for my yearly exam today. I had Mirena put in sometime in February. Shortly after, I checked, and the strings were there. I haven't checked for a few months. During my exam my doctor couldn't find them anywhere. I have an ultrasound scheduled for the 17th of next month, but I'm afraid that it caused perforation. As far as I know it didn't expulse itself from my body (I would have seen it). Are there any symptoms of perforation? Is it possible that it is too far up to be seen, but not embedded or perforated? If it is embedded, how is it removed and is there risk of scarring which could lead to infertility as with perforation? Thank you to anyone who can help.
