Sometimes the only SS of an infection is the actual chorioamnionitis, sometimes a tender uterus before the birthing. Frequently the white blood count would be elevated, which is a clue of infection. But sometimes there are no symptoms. GBS is usually discovered on a vaginal swab, or from a bladder infection. It is difficult to detect if it hadn't been screened for, and it takes a few days sometimes for a culture to show an infection. It is a common factor in uterine infections, but so is Chlamydia.

I am sorry for your loss. I am sure it is hard, and you are trying to find a reason.
