CHRONICPAIN: Trachelectomy RecoveryFrom: Ktan (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 12 Jun 2007 18:23:14 -0500 (CDT)
I have searched far and wide for information about this procedure and am having little to no luck. I had an LSH hysterectomy 2 years ago due to adenomyosis and endometriosis, as well as a phenomenal amount of scar tissue. They removed my uterus, and left my ovaries and cervix. I was 26 at the time. I felt great for about 18 months. About 7 months ago, I started having pelvic pain again. It was cyclical and during the last two weeks of the month I had the same intense left side pain that went into my hip and thigh. Four months ago it got a lot worse, and then I started spotting during those 2 weeks. Now, the pain is excruciating, and the Dr. has decided to go in and remove one ovary and my cervix. What kind of recovery is normal for this procedure? It would be outpatient, and the Dr. seems to think I should be fine to go back to work in a week. Because of my schedule, one week is all I would have to recover before I'd have to go back to work full time. My other alternative is to wait until November, but frankly, I'm not positive that I can continue to deal with this pain 2 weeks out of the month. Any advice/experiences/wisdom is so incredibly appreciated :)
