GENERAL: Absorbable sutures - how long until dissolved? Still there after a month.

I had laparoscopic surgery a month ago. The absorbable sutures seem to have done just that in the belly button and in the incision in the pelvis right below it; however, there seems to be a wick of suture material extending from the edge of the incision on the left that they made for the cystectomy. Shouldn't this be gone by now? I have seen my doctor twice at 1-week and 3-weeks' postop, but he has never said anything about it. I will go back this week for another check, but I don't want to look stupid if I ask him why it's still there. On the other hand, if this was supposed to have absorbed by now and it hasn't, what happens next? Thanks.
