Not intentionally, like can be done with birth control pill. Sometimes the hormone levels decrease the menstrual period, and sometimes the periods are heavier and with cramps, though this is greatly improved with Merena..

Why would you want to do that ? There is value to the menstrual period. IUDS don't work that way.
