It just disgusts me how women can be treated when they complain of pelvic pain. Someone is not listening to your signs and symptoms. There can be many things that can cause pain in the pelvis and many of the tests are useless for finding these syndromes. IBS can cause constant and severe diarrhea but no test for it (there are two very good medicines that can treat it.) Adenomyosis can cause severe pain and bleeding (and cysts from what other women have told me) and the only test for that is an MRI but the MRI won't always find it. Interstitial cystitis can cause pain around the bladder and many urologists don't believe that it exists. Levator ani syndrome causes severe anal/rectal pain, pelvic floor myalgia causes pelvic and anal/rectal and abdominal pain, not to mention nausea and diarrhea. The list of syndromes goes on and on. Medical tests do not always find things so you have to find a physician who will stick with you to find the answers. Sometimes the doctors - a lot of the time -- can only rely on symptoms then they can try a couple of medicines to see if it helps. At the very least you need an ob/gyn specializing in pelvic pain and a diagnosis of what exactly is wrong. If you live near a medical university, please try and find an ob/gyn through the university. Or you could try pelvicpain.org - they have lists of physicians in every state. Or try the American Medical Association: http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/7630.html. They have state by state list of physicians. Look at the Mayo Clinic website, they have good information. In the meantime, do some research on the net on endometriosis, adenomyosis, interstitial cystitis, ovarian cysts, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, diverticulitis, pelvic floor myalgia and levator ani syndrome and last but not least, fibromyalgia. Don't be too surprised if you end up with a diagnosis of more than thing. And hurry and find that ob/gyn --- that black discharge sounds just horrifying. Let us know how you are doing.
