ONCOLOGY: clear cell adenocarcinoma of the vaginaFrom: Tama (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 30 May 2007 04:45:15 -0500 (CDT)
I was recently diagnosed with a 3-4 cm tumor behind the cervix on the back vaginal wall. I have been told that of a tumor this size radiation and chemo are the best options. Outcomes are actually better when you don;t operate and there are less radiation complications without surgery. can't find much on the subject being this is so rare. (We are thinking it is des related cause I was premature. My mother passed away and no one else in family knows if she took it.) Just wondering best treatment options. And is this treated just like it were cervical cancer? It is being staged as T2N0. Which I think is incorrect because it didn't penetrate the vaginal wall, but did start in glandular tissues.I will recieve 5 weeks IMRT and chemo once a week probably cisplatin, then possible brachetherapy. Just would like some input, and has anyone else dealt with something like this? Thanks!
