1. Chlamydia can hang around for a long time. If not treated appropriately, it just hangs around and might or might not cause problems. It is critical both a woman and her partner be treated at the time.

2. It is also associated with cardiac disease, so the medications for treatment might be similar. The medications used for Chlamydia are commonly used ABX.

3. I doubt the BV diagnosis would affect the Chlamydia diagnosis. The cultures are taken from a different place, and they are different tests.

4. Of course discuss it with your GYN. That will bring you more clarity.

My recommendation would be to take the treatment, and let all pass. It would be hard to say where it came from.

HPV, the condition that has a vaccine now that they are encouraging for young girls has been associated with all kinds of cancers...throat and vaginal/labial cancer, as well as cervical cancer. HPV has obviously been around a long time, but it is a good example of how these things stay with us. I realize you weren't asking about HPV, but you might find this information helpful. It is very important not to blame anyone, and just take the treatment.

Here is more info about Chlamydia: STD: CDC 2006 STD Guidelines http://www.cdc.gov/std/treatment/

The CDC is a reliable sourcer for this information.
