MENOPAUSE: Provera to regulate periods - worked but now spotting again

I have had spotting between period for about a year and a half now. I am 48 and in good health. My MD gave me a vaginal sonogram which was normal. He put me on Provera for 2 months and the spotting stopped. he took me off the Provera to see what would happen and the spotting returned after a couple months. He did an endometrial biopsy which came back normal. He had told me all along he felt it was hormonal fluctuations/perimenopause.

He put me back on the Provera and I have been on it for 8 months. No spotting and my period has come like clockwork on Day 10 of the Provera. Until this month - I started spotting 2 days ago, on the very first day I took the Provera. It is light spotting with a brown egg white like discharge.

Is this typical of peri/menopause? Or do I start to worry all over again?
