CHRONICPAIN: Ovarian cystectomy nearly 2 weeks ago -- still in pain. What if it does not go away? From: Anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 16 May 2007 21:16:13 -0500 (CDT)
I had laparoscopic surgery to remove a large ovarian cyst nearly 2 weeks ago. It was quite involved, but the doctor managed to remove the cyst without doing a laparotomy. I still have significant pain in that area, sometimes a dull, constant ache and other times a shooting (zapping) type that last mere seconds. I have yet to feel any better than I did before the surgery. Today, I saw my doctor's partner (he was out of the office), who did a pelvic exam. I about shot through the roof when she got to that area. It hurt SO MUCH! Why does it still hurt so much? Is it possible that the pain will never get any better? If it does not, what is the next step? I am beginning to wish my doctor had just taken the ovary out. Has anyone gone through an ovarian cystectomy only to need subsequent surgery to remove the ovary entirely? Does anyone have any advice? I find it terribly depressing to feel no better after surgery.
