GENERAL: Vaginal discharge, bleeding, pain, and cramping 10 days after laparoscopy - Help! From: Worried (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 15 May 2007 13:14:32 -0500 (CDT)
Ten days ago I had laparoscopic surgery to remove an ovarian cyst (quite large and wrapped behind the uterus). I also had a D&C, hysteroscopy, and endometrial ablation. For the first few days following laparoscopy I had, of course, bright red vaginal bleeding. It then seemed to turn brown for a few days, then yellowish but light. I thought it was stopping, so I never mentioned it at my first postop appointment. The next day, it started getting more profuse and more lightish brown (color of baby shampoo?)and it also started burning. It had a slight ammonia-type smell. It was like that for the next 4 days. Today, I have terrible cramping and there is some occasional bright red blood-tinged mucousy discharge and occasional pieces of tissue. Is this normal? I have tried researching this but cannot find the right answers. Can anybody help me? I hate to call my doctor for something that is just the normal postop course. Thanks so much for any info to share!
