CHRONICYEAST: Chronic Yeast, Vaginal Discomfort, Not responding to Medications! From: Rebecca (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 10 May 2007 16:21:18 -0500 (CDT)
I am suffering from a yeast infection that I have now had for 31 days. I have been to the doctor 4 times, and have taken 2 Diflucan pills (2 days apart), 7 days of Terazol, and one dose of Gynazole. All cultures are still showing yeast. I am waiting for culture results from 2 days ago, but I'm sure it will be the same as the last 3. In the mean time I have seriously cut back on sugar/carbs, I even choked down liquid acidophilus, and used an applicator to insert liquid acidophilus vaginally. The only symptom I still have is serious discomfort at my vaginal opening, and I am not able to have sex or use tampons b/c of the pain. I have no discharge, and no itching or burning (anymore). The doc said it looked very "raw" at the opening. Why aren't the medications working? What can I do to expedite the healing process, other than what I'm already doing? I haven't had intercourse this entire time, and being that I am a married woman, this is a problem. I can't go on like this! What should I do?
