LARGEOVARIANCYST: Ovarian Cyst/Possible Surgical Menopause

I'm about to undergo surgery for the removal of a 12cm ovarian cyst with septation, sitting mid-line. From the ultrasound it appears to have attached to the right ovary. I'm 39 yrs. The CA125 blood test came back elevated 116 u/ml. Blood was taken on 2nd day of period. The uterus has a small fibroid. A MRI will be done on 4/15/2007. I had a sister diagnosed w/stage 1 breast cancer and a cousin who had developed uterine cancer. Another sister developed a benign tumor on her esophagus. I am still in the process of meeting/interviewing Gynecologic Oncologists specializing in Laparoscopic surgery. Should I be meeting/interviewing Reproductive Endocrinologist too? How can I reduce scarring? I hope not to lose the right ovary. If I am unable to what are some things I can do to work towards a healthy new existence. I'll have in a new body post surgery. My greatest fear is surgical menopause and continued pelvic discomfort due to scarring. I need help to find solution for long-term care, an immediate approach. If I have the surgery, how can I handle the lost of hormones overnight? Do I need hormone test, bone density test before surgery so they can be used as a baseline for post surgery care? I would much rather maintain and keep my fertiliy so I have the possibility of more children. My greatest hope. Thank you.
