CHRONICPAIN: Ovarian cyst removal and continued pain...shouldn't I feel better?From: Mandy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 8 May 2007 22:00:47 -0500 (CDT)
I had laparoscopic surgery last Friday to do an ovarian cystectomy. It is now 4 days later and I am still in terrible pain. I can barely get out of bed because when I get up and start moving the pain is so severe and I hurt so much that all I can do is lay there and cry. I can't sleep because the pain is so unbearable that I cannot find position to lay in that is comfortable. I am taking Advil together with the pain medication the doctor gave me (which is what my doctor advised me to do starting the day after my surgery), but it basically does nothing to alleviate the terrible pain in the area of the ovary. Shouldn't I be feeling better by now? Shouldn't I be able to get out of bed? I have a followup appointment with my doctor on Thursday, but I am too embarrassed to say that I am still in this much pain and that I am nowhere near back to normal. I don't know anyone else who has had this procedure and I cannot seem to find any information regarding the length of pain following the procedure.
