ENDOCRINE: synchronizing cycles and break-through bleeding on seasonal cycle housemate

young girl with premature onset of menstruation asks:

I have just started menstruating. My doctor tells me it is normal, even with my concerns of seemingly continuous bleeding.

I think my cycle is impacting my mother's schedule.

I would like to have a better understanding of 2 medical terms, and what is going on.

Other articles in this forum confirm the tendency of women to synchronize schedules.

How does that work?

Is it by a pheramone like the way bees and butterflies find flowers?

Are my hormonal levels so strong that they can have an effect on other women I am near?

My second question is what is break-through bleeding?

My mother has her cycle regulated to a 13 week cycle through balziva, a new generic form of ovcon.

When she was taking ovcon and I was not yet menstruating she held to her 13 week cycle.

She had recently been switched to balziva a few months before my cycle came into the mix, and she did not have any problems with it.

Now she has some abnormal spotting or full cycling.

She doesn't know if this is what is called break-through bleeding.

But whatever it is called, could my hormonal levels be causing her to have bleeding the same way that women synchronize?

What are possible solutions if that is the case?

There is only one dosage level available for balziva, or ovcon.

So increasing her dosage to be immune to the synchronization effect doesn't seem to be an option.

What medical specialty deals with this sort of hormonal question?

How should I react if a doctor tells us that this is all caused by the moon?
