MENORRHAGIA: Period problems

From: Kimberly (anonymous@obgyn.net)

I am 40 years old and have always had regular periods. I am not on the pill. I have never been pregnant, and I am not pregnant now (Yes, I'm positive).

I had gone 58 days without a period and then on day 59, thought I was finally starting a period. However, on that day, I only had extremely slight spotting (maybe a drop at most). Then, nothing going forward. It wasn't really a period after all.

I hate to call my doctor if this is something that I shouldn't be worried about and should just wait out.

What could be causing this? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you. Kimberly
