You didn't mention what procedure they are doing via lap. Is your overall health good? Obviously a hysterectomy is a much longer recovery than a tubal ligation or cystectomy.

Depending on your job and the activity level, if you have the surgery Thursday you should be able to go back by Monday. Laproscopic hysterectomy is a different story - give that recovery 4-6 weeks minimum.

It is very important to walk as much as possible after you get home. Gas tends to build up and really hurt. Take Gas X and a stool softener **NOT** a laxative. Things that help avoid gas are walking, no drinking from a straw and no carbonated bevs.

Again, the most important thing is to expel that gas - warn your family!

Good Luck
