PREGNANCY: GBS, Bleeding, Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes, and Stillbirth!!From: Jo (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 9 Apr 2007 23:33:54 -0500 (CDT)
6 weeks into my pregnancy I began bleeding...I continued through 23-weeks gestation. (No one knows why.) I was diagnosed with Group B Strep in my urine at my first visit, never given a "test of cure" and only received 5 days of antibiotics. My water broke at 21-weeks and I spontaneously went into labor at 23-weeks gestation. My son was stillborn...pathology and autopsy were normal...the only thing noted was GBS in his bloodstream and acute chorioamnionitis from GBS. I have no other medical "history". First, What could cause someone to bleed basically throughout a pregnancy?(More than spotting, less than a period.) My Cervix was 3cm at last check and was "closed" when I presented to Labor & Delivery...I had no fluid left and painful contractions. Could that be incompetant cervix? Is there "hopeful" management of a patient like me for future pregnancies? Thank you...
