INFERTILITY: hysteroscopy with laparoscopyFrom: anita (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 1 Apr 2007 20:59:08 -0500 (CDT)
I am almost 30 yrs old, trying to conceive for 2 years. My first RE visit was Feb of this year. Last week he did an SHG and found a polyp. I have to decide whether to have a hysteroscopy to remove the polyp, then go ahead with our plan of IUI w/medication, OR have hysteroscopy together with laparoscopy. I have no history of endometriosis, so far my infertility is unexplained. He suggested the laparoscopy only because I have an aunt who had hysterectomy at a young age due to endometriosis, and of course I will already be under anesthesia and this will be more cost-effective, given that a laparoscopy may be in the future anyway, if IUI's don't work. What should I do? I cannot find any info on the cost of either procedure, or the both of them together. I'm trying to get pregnant as soon as possible, and I don't want to waste $$ on a procedure I don't need, but I don't want to throw away $$ on an IUI that is not going to work either.
