CONTRACEPTION: Pill digestive process

It is commonly advised that vomitin within 2-3 hours after taking a BCP may reduce contraceptive effect, and that longer times between ingestion and vomiting should not affect absorption.

Is it really true? Is it possible, if the digestive process is blocked for some reason, that the pill is actually vomited much later (say, 12 hours after ingestion) because it actually never moved away from the stomach to the intestine for absorption?

Or perhaps i'm missing something and the stomach does not consider equal food and BCPs...

Thank you
