NORPLANT: Very expired norplant

I'm 32 years old and in August of 1994 I had a set of Norplant inserted after the birth of my 3rd child .I never had the removed due to inability to afford it at the 5 year expiration date and just can't find a Dr. willing to do it now - my question is could there even be a chance the norplant would still be preventing me from getting pregnant ? My husband and I used an alternative birth control method up until 2 years ago now we don't use anything and still I haven't gotten pregnant !! help !! Thank you for any answers or advice !! Steph
