This should be evaluated by a gynecologist with a hysterosalpingogram as well as a D&C. 2) An experienced ultrasonographer of the pelvis may determine the width of the lining as it may be excessive. 3) There may be hormonal problems such as a luteal phase defect, problems with progesterone, or the presence of polycystic ovary syndrome which may present with menorrhagia and a picture of what is called "dysfunctional bleeding". These are initial steps in attempting to make a diagnosis of the prolonged bleeding and a possible diagnosis such as PCOS.Treatment will depend on a proper diagnosis. Best of luck in your quest.
