CONTRACEPTION: Hysterectomy as Contraception

I am 37 yrs, have one teenage child and desire no more. I have no pressing medical condition that would require hysterectomy, but would like 100% contraception as well as the loss of period. I would have had the procedure performed at 22 yrs after birth of my child, but no Dr. would consider it. Now that I am older, would Dr. perform this procedure on a purely elective basis or would it require an underlying problem?
