Hi Barbara,

Just to clarify, I don't need a GYN to treat my Epilepsy I need one with knowledge of Epilepsy, or at least knowledge of Catemenial Seizures or seizures that are in relation to Horomonal problems and/or GYN related disorders.

I've been given a referral to a GYN in Newport Beach who stated (exact quote), "I have never treated a patient with any seizures and do not know why you were referred to me".

I need a GYN with knowledge of this as he or she would know the appropriate testing to do in order to properly diagnose me or to find out if my seizures are in fact related to the Gynecologic problems I have had in the past. I've been looking for the past 8 months and have yet to speak with a single ob/gyn with experience in this field.

My Neurologist and Epileptologist have suggested Catamenial Epilepsy, however to properly diagnose this it would have to be done working with a gynecologist with knowledge of such disorders.

Patients with Epilepsy have a hard time finding care outside of the Neurology field as many doctors have and do request clearance from your Neurologist that your seizures are controlled. Mine are not, thus resulting in declined treatment from other providers. I'm constantly in-limbo with my health care because there's such a lack of training/knowledge/awareness of this disorder. In more rare cases, such as mine (around 1% of those diagnosed with epilepsy have seizures from the Parietal Lobe) it's hard to even find someone who knows that lobe exists. :)

So to sum it up, I want a GYN to treat my GYN related problems to see if it will resolve my neurological problems, and I am confident if I find someone that will happen.

Thank you again for your reply, it is much appreciated.
