GYNECOLOGIC: Lump in armpit

I discovered a smallish to medium sized lump toward the back side and bottom of my left armpit that can only be felt when my arm is raised. It is fairly painful, but that could be because my bra kind of presses in right there. I am currently breastfeeding my 10 month old son. There is no pain or tenderness in either breast. I know that I should get it checked by a Dr to be on the safe side, but my questions are:

1. Could breastfeeding cause a lump like this? Also I co-sleep with him, and he sleeps to my left, so I spend much of the night lying on my left side with my arm raised and stretched out across the top of his head. If not breastfeeding or cancer what other things could it be? I haven't been sick recently except for occasional dizziness and sinus headache.

2. Which Dr should I go to to get it checked: my gp or my ob/gyn?

Thank you!
