After the initial spotting I had no bleeding at all, however I have been experiencing increasingly heavy spotting at regular monthly intervals. At my last examination my doctor could not locate the strings, however an ultrasound examination showed that the Mirena was still in position. my concern is that I may have lessening contraceptive effect coinciding with the increased level of bleeding.
