Fertility

We have been trying to conceive through artificial insemination for over a year. Recently, I have been told that the problem is high estrogen levels that decrease our conception rate. It was suggested to us that I go on birth control pills (to suppress my estrogen) for a few weeks during my next cycle, before going off of them and trying to inseminate the next month. It seems odd to us that I would need to take birth control pills in order to get pregnant. Is that possible and will the pill really lower my estrogen?? Thanks so much.
