messed up periods --PLEASE HELP! Reply: Anon: "Re: messed up periods --PLEASE HELP!" I am 48 years old and have always had a regular period. It would come every 28-29 days and last approx. 7-8 days. A few months ago I skipped a period. It was exactly 28 days late. I was also having lower abdominal cramping. I saw my doctor, they did a pregnancy test which was negative and a urinalysis which showed a UTI. I was started on an antibiotic and told I was probably nearing menopause. I finished the medication and my next period started 23 days after the previous one. I am still having it and this is the 14th day. Should I be concerned?
