I'm not sure what the average time is, but I think it's usually within a few months. If your cycle was irregular before you started the pill, you will probably go back to that same pattern. Yes, you can and possibly will ovulate before you get your period. Take a pregnancy test just to be sure (you might have ovulated already). Call your doctor to see if he/she wants you to take something to kick-start your cycle or to wait a little longer.
