[Birth Control] A couple of questions, ceftin, dryness, etcFrom: J (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 16 Sep 2003 17:12:50 -0500 (CDT)
I am 20 and I use Aleese and have used it for almost 4 years. I recently started a 10 day rx of Ceftin and was wondering if it was one of the antibiotics that could affect b.c.? Also, I started my period 2 weeks early after a few days of the Ceftin. I am never irregular (I am like clockwork from start to finish every month) and I was wondering if the Ceftin was the cause? I have had many annoying side affects from b.c. such as weight gain, cramping right before and during period, and, worst of all, intense dryness. The dryness only started in the last 2 years but is becoming almost unbearable as sex and even using a tampon has become horribly painful and often impossible. Lubricants are completely useless and just dry up almost immediately on contact. Is there anything I can try/do to fix or help this? Also, since the dryness started, I seem to get regular yeast infections. Rx only make the infections worse and home remedies don't work. The symptoms of these infections are very mild, often non-existent, and I didn't even know about them untill my gyn told me. Any suggestions? Should I be alarmed about any of this, please help.........
