Abnormal Symptoms when test results show nothing!

I've had abnormal discharge for the last six weeks. It started off with white-green discharge (that was like the consistency of white glue), which tapered off into alternating thick green mucous and yellowish-clear water (this itched and burned and irritated the opening of my vagina).

Doctor prescribed Flagyl for 3 times a day for seven days(250mg per dose). Symptoms lessened but I was still left with a greenish mucous discharge that smelled a little musky. Two days later, I went to the doctor again, and he took a swab of the vaginal secretions. I am not sexually active, nor have I ever been, so the doctor didn't think a pap smear was necessary. (I'm also on Diane-35 for hormone replacement and acne therapy)

The test results came back negative for every condition, however, there were some pus cells present.

A few days later, the discharge increased and the doctor gave me more flagyl- this time, 500mg, twice a day for seven days. I took this during my period, and when I finished the flagyl, I still had a little mucous-like discharge left. I couldn't really see the color since the last little bits of my period tinted it brownish though.

So, it's been two weeks since I finished the medication. I went to see the doctor yet again yesterday, and he said that since the tests all came back negative, he suggested I leave the infection be if it didn't bother me that much.

Today, I have increased discharge and itching. The discharge is thick, and the consistency isn't uniform. It also has a greenish color to it. It isn't consistent with the clumpiness of yeast, and I'm experiencing itching in the opening of the vagina only.

Can anyone tell me what to do next?
