Yesterday afternoon, her OBGYN called to tell her that 1) The AFP results were "good" 2) Both femurs measured "short". Although no actual measurements were given, the doctor quickly scheduled a level 2 ultrasound for tomorrow. Can anyone help me with "getting smart" on this subject prior to the U/S and subsequent "genetic counseling" prior to my wife's appointment? ie: Is short femur measurements an absolute Down's Syndrome indicator or are there other indicators that need to be present to accurately predict Down's? Is there anywhere I can get information on statistically how many babies that are measured with short femurs are actually born with Down's? What important questions do I need to know to ask the doctor tomorrow? Any help or advice in this situation will be greatly appreciated. Please help me so that I can help my wife. Thanks.
