28 yr old woman, history of years of abnormal bleeding, unreslovedFrom: Fawn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 5 Sep 2003 15:37:53 -0500 (CDT)
I have been having siginificatnt bleeding issues for 10 years that have remained despite attempted treatment and vistis with physicians. I am a otherwise very 28 year old woman with two children ages 10 and 3, I do not smoke or drink and have no medical conditions at 5'6 120 lbs. Please forgive my lengthy explanation as this is a problem that has been going on since the birth of my son 10 years ago. Before my first child (age18) I always had irregular periods, more often than not they were widely spaced. I began menstruating around age 14. After the birth of my son, I had an IUD inserted. Again, I had irregular bleeding, but I started to bleed so much that it did not stop. By the time he was two I had it removed and was put on provera for several months. While on provera and without the IUD and using spermicide I actually became pregnant but miscarried after 2 months, I had a d&c and my uterus was fine. My doctor put me on the pill (minovral) for several months but the bleeding woudl still come and go. Finally he tried Ovral, still no effect. Eventually I was using sponges only. A year after the miscarriage I had an IUD again, which again was removed and I was using sponges and became pregnant again. During my pregnancy I had occasional spot bleeding but the pregnancy went to full term After my daughter and flow stopped, I had an IUD again. since my daughter was born I have bled nearly every day. Occasionally I will have a few days or almost a week withotu serious bleeding, but I bleed pretty muche very day even in small amounts.
