contraceptive pill effects

I have been taking Loestrin Fe for the last two 1/2 years. I stopped taking it over the summer and have just started again. Previously, I had waited until the next Sunday to start the pill. This time, as per one of the options on the directions, I started the pill in the first 24 hours of my period. (it says that if you start the pill within the first 24 hours of your period, you do not need to use additional methods of contraception?) I was surprised that my period stopped about a day later having been extremely light that first day and now two days later, it's still completely gone. Was that supposed to happen? Should I stop taking the pill and wait for it to come back? Do I need to have my partner use condoms or additional methods of birth controls when he returns in another week? Thank you!!!
