prolonged use of diflucanFrom: shiku (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 2 Sep 2003 06:07:14 -0500 (CDT)
in the past year, i've had chronic yeast infections almost monthly. 4 months ago my gyn told me to take one diflucan tablet once a month prior to my period. i have done this every month and have now observed a pattern whereby i feel the onset of a yeast infection about 4 weeks after my last diflucan tablet. it seems that i need to take a tablet every month to control these yeast infections. is this advisable? what are the long-term effects of using diflucan? another gyn once told me that diflucan is not good because the normal vaginal flora take too long to repopulate even on taking just one diflucan tablet. i'm confused about my situation - should i not have taken the tabs, should i continue taking them now that my body seems hooked to one tab a month or what should i do?
