Diagnosed with double kidneys

My daughter just got out of the hospital having been treated for sepsis. The doctor discovered she was born with two kidneys that fused together on each side and four ureters. She had a kidney infection that led to sepsis and was hospitalized in icu with 106.0 temps. Would this condition cause recurrent kidney infections? She says she feels like she is getting another kidney infection, back pain, n/v, and she is going to the doctor tomorrow to be checked, I just wanted someone else's opinion and how would having double kidneys affect her. Is this rare? Your help would be appreciated, From a worried MOM, Thank you
