For some women it takes years to return to normal fertility. However, there is a reason you get the shot after a certain number of days; after that day is passed, you are no longer on birth control. Yes, it is possible to get pregnant since you are no longer receiving the shot. If you don't want to get pregnant right now, you need to choose some form of birth control.
