kimi,

You are "not in the clear" by removing a tampon that's been in your body for three weeks. Don't worry- just call your doctor and tell him or her what has happened. Or go to the E.R. or urgent care clinic. In cases of possible TSS they will likely administer antibiotic therapy before the final diagnosis is made. Remember, not all cases are fatal or do permanent damage. Don't be embarrassed- many women lose or forget a tampon. It's very important that you be seen and evaluated by a doctor right away.
