Daniel Braun, MD: "Re: prolonged period" Hi, I am 21 years old and have had periods for the last 11 years. They normally last 7 days and occur every 25-40 days. (There has never been a regular schedule.) However, my last period lasted for 6 weeks. It began like a regular period (although it was somewhat lighter than normal). However, after the first week it continued in the form of light (but continuous) bleeding. Then, after 4 more weeks the bleeding became heavier (like a normal period) and finished normally. I am not on any birth control and am a virgin. What could be the cause of this? Thank you for your time. Next message: R.
