In hindsight, I feel I should have interviewed a few doctors before choosing one to do the surgery. In reality, I was so excited that the first one said he'd do it, I went with him. As far as costs, it would have been extremely reasonable had I not had the E.R. fiasco. My doctor told me my insurance would pay for it and they did. I only had to pay my coinsurance. Oh.. and the doctor never billed me for my part of his bill. (The E.R. visit, however, costs me about $400 out of pocket. Again, I have no regrets and would do it again if I had too (it's not cosmetic if it causes you discomfort!), but I would choose another doctor. Ask how many of these procedures the doctor has performed though. And.. try and find someone slightly compassionate and understanding.
