Possible Amennorhea?From: Jody (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 20 Aug 2003 19:38:31 -0500 (CDT)
I am 24 years old and have never once had a period on my own. Around age 19 I was given premarin and provera in order to bring on a period. The intentions of the Doctor was to bring on a period and the use birth control for a year, and then discontinue the birth control to see if the period would continue on its own. However, that was not what happened. After discontinuing the medicine the period stopped. I stayed off the medication not realizing just how important it is to have your period. (I was young) Then, after moving, seeing another doctor, and being put on another birth control pill for a little over a year, I developed a blood clot in my external jugular vein. The doctor discontinued the birth control pill immediately and I have not had another period since. That was over a year ago. So now not having a period for over a year, and still do not know why I never had a period in the first place. I have had many tests done over the years, and everything keeps coming back normal. No one can seem to figure out why I am not getting a period. I am very scared, confused, and unsure of what to do next. I am not sure what type of doctor I should even turn to next. I would appreciate information that anyone has to offer. Thank you so much.
