Ann,

It is believed that estrogen in Prometrium is causing heart attacks by causing blood clots. The only thing you can do to reduce your risk is to practice good diet/exercise habits and stay on hormones for the shortest possible time and at the lowest possible dose. If you don't have terrible menopause symptoms, don't take Prometrium.
