bacterial vaginosis/chronic cervicitis

I went to my Doc in January with a brown foul discharge and discovered I had left a tampon in. (I am estimating close to a week and had intercourse during that time, I am married w/three kids) They removed the tampon and said I had bacterial vaginosis and treated me with metro gel. I went in for my annual exam two weeks later, still had traces of gel, but everything checked out OK. Before my next period I began "spotting" and would bleed with intercourse. Then about a week after my period I began "spotting again...it would last about a week, stop and then start up about a week before my period. (I am on the pill) I have been to the doctor numerous times since then (diagnosed with cervicitis), taken 4 rounds of oral antibiotics, and 1 dose of prescription fungal cream and 2 diflucan 5 days from each other. The problem still exsisted so I had cryosurgery done July 3rd, bled until my follow up visit on the 16th of July. I still had a scab and "oozing". They asked me to come back in two weeks on 8/6. When I went I had (still do) a yellow discharge (no odor) and mild itching, some pelvic/lower back discomfort. They said my cervix looked better, but the center was still yellow and gooey probably still healing. Then they wrote me a prescription for Doxicyclen and said if the spotting started again to get it filled...no follow up visit! Does this sound normal following cryosurgery with my cervix still "gooey"? Should they have done a biopsy or ultra sound before and after to see what was causing this problem?
