I was wondering if you read my note to Debbie (who wanted to know why my doctor would do the hystorectomy) which explained why my doctor feels like I am a good candidate for the partial hysterectomy? If not I have it here and would like to know if your opinion is the same of or if the information would change your position. Thank you very much. This is what I wrote to Debbie: I am 37 years old having my third c-section. I have uterine scaring that is causing posterior placenta previa. I also have high cardiolipins and thyroid disease. To top it off, I suffer (especially with this and the last pregnancy) with fibromyalgia. I also have pain during intercourse due to a tilted uterus. I don't want to risk getting pregnant mostly due to the risk to the baby. I can handle the other stuff, but because of the previa and increased cardiolipins, I don't want to take the chance. Also, I am unable to take birth control pills because of a very big family hisotry of stroke. My doctor is not able to perform tubal ligation because I am delivering at a Catholic hospital. He has agreed that we can justify the hysterectomy (partial) because of my physical health. My advanced age (I laugh everytime I say that because I still feel like a kid) also is considered a pro when deciding on hysterectomy as a treatment (birth control) option. I am very close to my doctor (we have had a long term doctor-patient relationship) and he is confident that I am making a well informed decision about my body. Your reply to my original post: usually subtotal hysterectomy is carried out as a life safing surgery when there is uncontrollable bleeding and usually they are not well psychologically because of the event. Hysterectomy during CS is not recommended as a method for contraception Samir F Aziz MD Assist.Prof.Ob.gyn-Al-Azhar university Advisor OBGYN.NET(P&B-gyn.Oncology) Editor-in-chief http://www.arabicobgyn.net Consultant editor the contemporary Who's who this is for teaching purposes
