Re: 31 years old - Remove Ovaries?From: Anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 26 Jul 2003 12:09:32 -0500 (CDT)
Yes, I've seen the past two operation reports for the hysterectomy and the ovarian cyst/adhesion removal. My doctor who did both surgeries said no endometriosis seen during either surgery. The pathology report from the hysterectomy said adenomyosis - which I've read was probably caused by my previous two c-sections. The second report said pelvic adhesive disease. The doctor I saw yesterday was a second opinion doctor who suggested the removal of my ovaries. He said Lupron would shrink the ovaries and if they were encased in adhesions as he expects they are, shrinking them and making them non-functioning should help with the pain. He thinks 100% of my pain is due to my ovaries and says they are as sensitive to pain as the testes are. I'm really not interested in Lupron OR having my ovaries removed, but my pain is now constant, I cannot sleep due to it and cannot enjoy any part of my life - especially being intimiate with my husband who is extremely supportive and has been through this entire surgery/nightmare thing. I just want to be pain-free and at this stage of the game, I'm willing to try ANYTHING that might give me a chance of that. Thank you both for your advice and for listening. I just wonder if there's nothing but menopause (either surgical or chemical) to try to help relieve this unrelenting pain. Any other ideas I could discuss with my doctor? I'm so desperate to get rid of this pain. PS. I also worried about ovarian remnant syndrome. I'm afraid of trading in one problem for another - again :(.
