Re: 31 years old - Remove Ovaries?From: anonymous@obgyn.netSat, 26 Jul 2003 11:11:02 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, I saw the other posts on this and I am a bit confused. You say you didn't have endo but had adenomyosis but they want you to try Lupron for scar tissue/adhesion pain?. Isn't adenomyosis still considered endo even though it is in the uterine muscle? Did you see your post-op report from your last surgery? It didn't mention endometriosis? Lupron won't help with pain from scar tissue/adhesions. Even if you have endo, it would only be a temporary fix at best. I never wanted to do it because of the side-effects. Is your pain cyclical at all or is it always constant? You should be aware that if they try and remove your ovaries now, that they may not be able to get them out intact because of the scar tissue. That is what happened to me. Also each surgery you have can create more scar tissue. If you do go the surgery route, make sure you have someone who can get your ovaries out completely and can deal with complications to the ureter and bowel- perhaps a gyn oncologist. Make sure you are completely bowel prepped too. I hope this helps. Best wishes, D.N.
