bacterial vaginosis-for life?

Ok I went to the doctor yesterday about chronic bacterial infections, bleeding, and pelvic pain during sex. She said that some people just get chronic bacterial infections and they don't know why. They bascially are telling me that everytime after I have sex that I have to use metro-gel. Does this make sense? I have gotten checked for STD's and nothing..I think there is something more going on and they are missing it. Anyone else have the same problem or any advice..I'm going to have an ultrasound done next tues so they can look for endo and sists on my ovaries for the bleeding. I'm just confused that a doctor would be ok just saying oh we don;t know why but your one of those few who get infections all the time? I don't want this for life..any help! Candi
